Danny & Kay

This is Jordan’s Nonno Danny and Nanny Kay, standing proudly in front of their Ottawa grocery store, Danny-Kay Grocery, sometime in the 1950s. They had just arrived from Pretoro, Abruzzo, bringing with them the traditions of their Italian mountain village—handmade food, strong coffee, family first.
Nanny Kay was famous for her slow-cooked meat sauce. Nonno Danny roasted rabbits, made his own wine in the basement, and stocked the shelves with whatever the neighborhood needed. Their little deli was more than a store—it was a gathering place.
We named Danny Kay’s in their honor, and everything we make carries a little of their spirit: generosity, good food, and a lot of heart.
